John V.

John has held positions that range from Controls Applications Engineer in Toronto, Canada Director, Facilities Management and Biomedical Engineering for a 1.2 million square foot hospital to Manager of Technical Infrastructure in an aerospace engine maintenance, repair and overhaul company in Vancouver. John’s facilities/energy/project management experience has spanned 35 years and ranged from a single 5,000 square meter (54,000 square feet) lithograph facility to assisting in amalgamating a municipal asset portfolio with over 2,000 properties, consisting of 400,000 square meters (4,300,000 square feet), to direction and operation of a comprehensive community hospital. During these 35 years, his mechanical engineering experience has varied from owner’s representative during planning, design and construction to assisting in design of nuclear facilities. John currently enjoys teaching part time in building services engineering and the next generation of facility managers as well as being a guest lecturer throughout the world for various schools. John finished his Masters of Mechanical Engineering Management specializing in Building Services with Brunel University in Uxbridge, England. John acquired holds Facility Management Professional, Certified Facility Manager and Sustainable Facility Professional certifications from the International Facility Management Association from July 2000. John challenged and passed his Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals exam in November 2004. In 2008, John became a Certified Energy Manager through the AEE. Additionally, John has been an active member of both ASHRAE and IESNA, for more than 25 years. In his formative years, John was a founding member of the Solar Energy Society of Canada. John is an accredited instructor with IFMA for the FMP, SFP and CFM credentials including the core competencies of Planning and Project Management, Strategy and Leadership, Operations and Maintenance, Finance and Business and he has been teaching these classes since 2004.
