Edwin Garro is a Quality Management and Operational Excellence expert trainer, mentor and consultant with 30+ years of professional experience, spanning across various industries. His areas of expertise, which include Lean Processes, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement and Innovation as well as OE and QM, accompanied by a broad international exposure throughout diverse cultural groups within North America and MENA, has allowed him to successfully work with numerous major local, regional and multinational companies. Since the early 2000s, Edwin has prepared and mentored over 1,000 professionals for different ASQ certifications. He has performed consulting and training in more than 150 companies in Central America, Mexico, the USA and in the MENA region, mainly in the fields of Quality Management, Quality Tools, Six Sigma and Statistics. Duties in teaching have included mainly manufacturing concepts, statistics, quality engineering, ISO 9000 and TS 16949. On the research side of things, he has included the development of a Quality System customized to the Costa Rican work culture that included a test pilot at a plastics company (packaging) and a metal shop. Mr. Garro is an ASQ Fellow and a past president of ASQ Costa Rica. He has a strong academic background as he holds a B.S. in Industrial Production Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica and an M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. In addition to his Six Sigma Black Back, he holds five more ASQ certifications namely: CQE, CMQ/OE, CQA, CSSGB, and CQI. Additionally, he is a certified trainer in Lateral Thinking and Six Thinking Hats. As a testament to his input in the education field, Edwin has proudly created an MBA major in Quality and Productivity for the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica. He was a Professor, and has Coordinated the first two promotions, while being part of the University. He is continuous improvement writer for El Financiero (main business publication in Central America) in subject matters as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement Tools Deployment, Quality Auditing. One of his biggest accomplishments in the field of Quality Management is that fact that he is a coauthor of Lean Six Sigma Primer and CSSGB Primer for the Quality Council of Indiana which are official learning materials for the aforementioned courses. Since 2013 he has become blogger for the ASQ group “Influential Voices of Quality”, a blog with regular monthly publications in English. Edwin has been with LEORON for several years, and the blend of his professional background and teaching style, which is very interactive and is highly based on stimulated engagement of all participants, is the main alignment point with our esteemed organization
